Do You Know What Grass-Fed Actually Means?

Most meat labels answer one question. We answer all of them.

Take ‘grass-fed.’

It sounds like a guarantee. It used to be one — until 2016, when the USDA withdrew its own definition. Today, every producer writes their own rule for what ‘grass-fed’ means on their package. No two are required to match.

That’s not a lie. It’s just one answer to one question — and there are a lot more worth asking.

Meat that’s simply labeled ‘grass-fed’ doesn’t answer questions about added hormones or antibiotics.

Here’s everything we know — because we asked it ourselves.

  • The name of the farm your meat came from.
  • What the animals ate, and whether they saw pasture.
  • Whether antibiotics or growth hormones were used. (They weren’t. Ever.)
  • Where it was processed — our own facility in Princeton, Kentucky.
